Mobile Processes and Termination
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper surveys some recent works on the study of termination in a concurrent setting. Processes are π-calculus processes, on which type systems are imposed that ensure termination of the process computations. Two approaches are exposed. The rst one draws on the method of logical relations, which has been extensively used in the analysis of sequential languages. The second approach exploits notions from term rewriting.

A New Distributed Termination Detection Protocol for Mobile Networks
The popularity of the mobile computing applications and the steady-rising demands for their deployment are the outcomes of the breakthrough in wireless communication technology and the rapid advent of well-equipped mobile devices. This forces the researchers to reexamine the popular distributed system problems and their solutions in the new mobile environment. This paper addresses one such prob...
متن کاملTermination Detection Protocols for Mobile Distributed Systems
ÐThis paper studies a fundamental problem, the termination detection problem, in distributed systems. Under a wireless network environment, we show how to handle the host mobility and disconnection problems. In particular, when some distributed processes are temporarily disconnected, we show how to capture a weakly terminated state where silence has been reached only by those currently connecte...
متن کاملStatic and dynamic typing for the termination of mobile processes
A process terminates if all its reduction sequences are finite. We propose two type systems that ensure termination of π-calculus processes. Our first type system is purely static. It refines previous type systems by Deng and Sangiorgi by taking into account certain partial order information on names so to enhance the techniques from term rewriting (based on lexicographic and multiset orderings...
متن کاملMobile Termination
Regulators in Australia, Japan, United Kingdom and many countries in Europe have regulated mobile termination rates reflecting concerns about the high level of these charges and the resulting high fixed-to-mobile retail prices. In Latin American countries, despite success in expanding mobile telephony, the relatively high charges imposed by mobile phone operators on fixed line networks to accep...
